FILM STANDARDS AND SIZES

I have been trying to bring together a database of all the info I can glean on film dimensions. Here is a first cut, plus some of my source material. If anyone can help to correct, amend, fill in or expand the table (with source material), I would be most grateful. I am only concerned here with the main gauges; there were scores - see Wikipedia for an exhaustive list - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_film_formats .

 I borrowed from Pat Moules one of the most basic and I think most important documents about 9.5.

You can see the sort of complications that arose when making  prints, by reduction from two different sizes of original 35mm image, as well as from original 9.5 camera negs. Note from the original (mostly original, anyway) that I have extrapolated the  missing part of the lowest frame. I'm not wholly convinced about some of my translations into English, either. It's involved a lot of work to improve the original but in my view it was worthwhile. The fourth pic above is a re-scan after printing, as there are some problems with the original file.

I'm trying to accumulate as much info as I can about film specifications and related stuff. Here is the 16/9.5/8 film area comparison Pathescope were so fond of, a detailed analysis of Super 8 and stuff on running times and screen illumination. The  Standard 8 figure of 47% of total area of film projected quoted in the Super8/Std8 comparison is much lower than the 55.25 figure in the Pathescope comparison. Super 8 comes in at 63% - almost the same as 16mm, and 9.5 sound is not given at all. The projected picture for 9.5 sound is 7mm x 5.5 (38.5), total area per frame is 7.54 x 9.5mm (71.63). I make that 53.75%.

The penultimate pic is the 16/9.5/8 film area comparison Pathescope were so fond of. On a slightly different tack, the triple-print production of 9.5 seems to belong here, too. I have never seen the attraction of a gauge like 22mm as there is no chance one would ever have any significant amount of film, and because of its rarity it would be too expensive just as a curiosity, tho' I would love to see it.
